Dr. Dail M. Murray

Hired in 1998, Dr. Murray teaches courses in anthropology and sociology. She has worked with the Salish Indians of the Northwest Coast, lived in an Old Order Amish neighborhood, helped establish a community wildlife reserve in Belize, and travelled to meet the Sakkeudei of Siberut island off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. She also founded a youth program for at-risk adolescents, ran a program for the elderly of Vernon County, WI, worked for a criminal lawyer, made several trips to Belize to lend support to a grass roots, village-based conservation project, and conducted oral history studies with Zionist coptics and elderly Norwegian farmers. She was chosen Teacher of the Year in 1999.
