MEET OUR STUDENTS

Ruth Babcock is a sophomore this year who plans on studying psychology and music at Anderson University in Indiana next year. She has soloed with the West Shore Chorale and enjoys outdoor activities like ice climbing.

Derek Gagne attended UW-Marinette last year and played basketball for the Buccaneers. While serving in Iraq with the Michigan National Guard, he was seriously wounded on January. He may be contacted at the following address:

Justin Jones, a freshman from Coleman, Wisconsin, is undecided on a major just yet, but exploring a variety of fields including psychology, philosophy, history and anthropology. He is an Instructional Technology assistant on campus for the spring semester and plans on transferring to UW-Green Bay. He is also happy about saving money on tuition, board and room while attending UW-Marinette. "It's close to home," says Justin.

Matt Koldos is a sophomore from Stephenson High School in Michigan. Last year he started the Crew Club, one of the most popular clubs on campus. His first successful company, Next Age Design,is also going very well. He's recently been hired to do Pack-N-Ships website and the Dome Lanes website. Next Age Design is also a Member of the Marinette/Menominee Chamber of Commerce and Matt has done various projects for them. This year he created VideoNet News, a local news source that has seen very fast growth. He is also on the Manifest student newspaper staff. Next fall he will transfer to UW-Green Bay. Matt believes that his involvement at UW-Marinette played a significant role in his success. "The support that the faculty and staff at UW-Marinette have given me will always be greatly appreciated. I do not believe I would have received so much support starting at a larger campus."

Arthur Ross is a Coleman graduate majoring in mathematics at UW-Marinette. His interest in computers and video games is an asset to his position as Instructional Technology assistant on campus. He plans on transferring to UW-Green Bay to complete his bachelor's degree.

 

 

jordan thill Jordan Thill is a home-schooled high school student from Peshtigo who is taking a full-credit load of courses at UW-Marinette this semester including calculus, chemistry, business and history. He would like to become a math teacher and plans to transfer to UW-LaCrosse or UW-Eau Claire to complete his bachelor's degree. Jordan is a goalie for the M&M Thunder hockey team and vice-president of the UW-Marinette ping-pong club. He has studied piano for 5 and a half years. If you are lucky, he will play works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff or Bach for you.
bill blomberg Sophomore Bill Blomberg is a Marinette high grad who began his college studies at UW-Marinette for one year, then transferred to Michigan Tech in engineering. After a summer and fall, he returned to Marinette to complete his associate degree. “I’m taking a variety of courses now. A lot of fun stuff,” says Blomberg, “like history of rock and roll, psychology, philosophy and journalism. I like it all.” Blomberg plans to transfer to UW-Madison in the fall but hasn’t decided on a major yet. “I like history and am thinking about college teaching, but I don’t know for sure yet,” says Blomberg.

Audra LaPierre, Student Senate President, is a sophomore from Marinette who is majoring in Emergency Medical Services. In addition to taking 12 credits this semester, she has two work-study jobs at UW-Marinette (for the bookstore and at the field house), and for REM of Wisconsin, Inc. as a certified nursing assistant for the mentally disabled, and for Marinette County as a caregiver for homebound patients. She also volunteers for the Emergency Rescue Squad every 9 days. But that’s not all! She was in the TOB production of the Fantastics, plans to audition for Pippin this summer, has sung the national anthem for the Buccaneers basketball games and the Green Bay Gamblers hockey games, worked stats, shock clock and video taping for the Bucs, was a member of the UW-Marinette soccer team and plans to coach M&M Soccer for 8 and 9 year olds this summer. Whew!

Audra will graduate with her associate degree from UW-Marinette in the spring. Next fall she will be at Fox Valley Technical College to start the paramedic program there. She plans to work as a paramedic but is also considering future education as a physician’s assistant or physical therapist.
