Amy Hinrichs

Amy began teaching Communications for UW as a dual enrollment course at Marinette High School in Fall 2008. This marks her fifth year teaching Language Arts at the high school level. For two years, she has been recipient of grant funding through the Best Buy Te@ch awards for inclusion of technology in the high school classroom. In 2008, the National Education Association awarded her a $5000 grant for learning and leadership to develop writing curriculum through professional development of the Language Arts staff.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Theatre from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, and her master’s degree in Teacher Leadership with an emphasis in reading from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI. Amy recently complete her PhD coursework at Capella University, Minneapolis, MN, with a specialization in Instructional Design of Online Learning. She is working on her pre-proposal, entering the research phase of the dissertation process.
Amy is involved in Wisconsin State Reading Association as a technology and reading committee member, and actively engaged in the International Reading Association, National Council of Teachers of English, Discovery Educator Network, International Society for Technology in Education and Society for Applied Learning Technology. Interactive technology is a focus of her professional development.
