Abayomi Animashaun earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from the International Graduate Writing Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he taught various composition and literature courses in different capacities. He has served as a staff editor for the Red Rock Review, and his poems have appeared in several journals, including 5 A.M., Drunken Boat, Diode, and Obsidian III. His poetry honors include The Hudson Prize and a nomination for the Pushcart prize. His collection of verse, The Giving of Pears, is forthcoming through Black Lawrence Press. He joined the UW-Marinette English Department in fall, 2008.
