CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
Classroom education is a priority in your career, but your learning experience does not stop there. Making time to become an active part of campus life will help you get the maximum out of your college experience.
Below is a listing of current clubs and organizations and the advisors you can contact to become involved. To begin a new club or organization, contact the Student Services Coordinator Jennifer Hass in the Student Serivces Office at (715) 735-4303.
Most campus groups have organizational meetings in the first few weeks of classes. Watch for advertisements around campus and plan to attend those early meetings. If you can't make it, leave a message for the group with Student Services. They will contact you.
Anthropology and Sociology Club
Plan field trips, meet students with interests in culture and globalization. Contact Professor Dail Murray: L-109, (715) 735-4323.
Art Club
Plan trips to museum and your own exhibits. Contact Professor Jim LaMalfa: T-137, (715) 735-4322.
Athletics
The UW-Marinette Buccaneer athletic program boasts a strong tradition of award-winning teams and coaches. UW-Marinette currently offers the following varsity sports:
- Women’s volleyball (fall)
- Men’s basketball (winter)
- Women's basketball (winter)
- Coed Soccer (fall and spring)

Audubon Society
The Chappee Rapids Chapter of the Audubon Society meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 pm in M-117. They also participate in Earth Day activities and the annual Sandhill Crane Count. Contact Professor Wendel Johnson: M-207, (715) 735-4326.
Business Club
This club is for those students who want to pursue a career in business or accounting. Find out about internships in the area and learn more about national business organizations. Contact the office of Student Services: M-133, (715) 735-4301.
Campus Activities Board
The UW-Marinette Campus Activities Board is responsible for bringing activities and entertainment to the campus from around the country. CAB members attend the National Association of Campus Activities conference to locate entertainment for the campus. Membership is open to all students. Contact Jennifer Hass: M-133, (715) 735-4303.
The Crew Club
This is a community service based club that combines fun activities and community service projects. They mainly help elderly and disabled people in our community in various ways such as moving, yard work, snow shoveling, etc. Some of the fun activities Crew members can expect are free pizza parties, road trips, cookouts, movie nights, etc. Contact Mary LaCasse: M-133, (715) 735-4301, or Scott Ward: M-150, (715) 735-4331.
Community Jazz Ensemble
This local group of musicians specializes in the big band sound and jazz standards. They meet Tuesdays at 7:30 - 9:00 pm at Marinette High School. Contact Cindy Bailey: M-133, (715) 735-4301 or Tom Polkinghorne: (715) 923-5211.
Gay/Straight Alliance
This group works on issues relevant to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered communities. Contact Professor Jane Oitzinger: L-115, (715) 735-4321.
International Club
With 45 students from 18 different countries on campus this year, you have an excellent opportunity to learn about other countries and cultures. Monthly potlucks are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Bring a dish to pass and table service. Field trips are also planned. Intramural Sports
Intramural sports are offered to meet current student interst and may include flag football, ping-pong, basketball, volleyball, softball, broomball and pool. Watch for sign-ups in the Main lobby or contact the Athletic Director George Hayes: F-133, (715) 735-4325.
The Manifest
UW-Marinette’s student newspaper, The Manifest contains the latest information about the campus. Students can join The Manifest staff as reporters, editors, photographers or layout designers. Register for COM 104 and receive credit or join as a co-curricular activity that teaches you valuable skills applicable in many careers. Math Club
Math Club students participated in the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges Student Mathematics League Competition held in the fall and spring each year. Contact Professor Mike Bartlett: M-114, (715) 735-4341.
Monkey Grip Club
Computer electronics and gaming. "We are't just about gaming, we are all about gaming..." Play tournaments for Halo 2, Madden, Timesplitters, Soul Calibur, SSX3, and more! Meet new peoople who love the same games you do. Help arrange events like WTF!? and Old Schoolers Playground. Play old school games as far back as Atari. Got an idea for an event? We wanna hear it! NEW Concert Band
The NorthEast Wisconsin Band is made up of community members and university students. You can earn credit for participation by registering for MUS 071 in Student Services. The group meets weekly on Mondays at Coleman High School and has one performance each semester. Contact Cindy Bailey: M-133, (715) 735-4301.
Northern Lights Arts Journal
Published in the spring, this collection of student and faculty poetry, essays, stories and artwork is a prestigious way to see your name in lights: Northern Lights. Phi Theta Kappa
This honor’s fraternity plans activities throughout the year. Participation is through invitation only, based on evidence of high scholarly achievement. For more information, contact Professor Tirza Shulman: L-112, (715) 735-4319.
Psychology Club

Science and Computer Club
With the ever-growing area of scientific knowledge, this is an organization that is sure to be a benefit if you are planning to major in a science. Get together with other science majors and help prepare yourself with all the latest information in this area. Contact Professor Keith West : F-107, 735-4352.
Student Ambassadors
UW-Marinette Student Ambassadors represent the campus to the community. They lead campus tours for high school students during Preview Days and help with orientation and graduation. They also sponsor blood drives on campus. In the past Student Ambassadors have helped during the Christmas season with the Salvation Army and have participated in local parades. Student Ambassadors meet every other Friday during universal lunch hour. This is a great organization for community service and public relations experience. Student Senate
This organization is responsible for the distribution of student segregated fees on the UW-Marinette campus. Student Senators are elected by the student body and serve on a variety of campus governing committees as well as the Student Governance Council for the state of Wisconsin and the United Council. Theatre on the Bay and UW-Marinette Bayside Players
Theatre on the Bay and Bayside Players offers theatre opportunities to UW-Marinette students in classes, productions, readers theatres and improvisational comedy with the B.A.R.T. (Bay Area Rapid Theatre): "Bay Gulls with Cheese." Theatre on the Bay productions are announced during the year and students can work on-stage and back-stage alongside professional and community actors and technicians. West Shore Chorale and Bay Shore Orchestra
The choir and orchestra consists of university students and community members. Students may take this course for credit as MUS 072. The group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:10 in the music room of the Fine Arts Building. There is one performance each semester. Contact Professor David Giebler: T-135, (715) 735-4316.
Writers’ Club
Network with other writers and writers’ groups such as the UP Writers Association. Poetry Day in October, readings at Aurora Books, The Manifest and Northern Lights are opportunities for you to publicize your works. Contact Professor Amy Reddinger: L-115, (715) 735-4321.
