Rebecca Merrit #24
Sophomore, Marinette HS

Rebecca graduated from Marinette High School in 2006, attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, transferred to UW-Marinette last fall, and is hoping to attend UW-Madison next fall. While at the University of MN she was accepted into the National Collegiate Scholar Program for academic achievement. She has also, since middle school, lent a helpful hand in all different forms of volunteering. Her current academic goals are to graduate with majors in International Relations and Communications with a minor in Portuguese (maybe one day complete the major). In terms of volleyball, she is 5’9” and currently playing as a middle blocker although before this year she was designated as an outside hitter. She began playing volleyball in the 7th grade and played all through high school. Throughout the years she has grown to love the sport and just enjoy being out on the court. After her senior year in high school, she traveled to Brazil as a foreign exchange student where she also got the chance to play volleyball. While there, she was able to play on a school team, other than the school which she atttended. "I learned so much about volleyball in Brazil and am grateful that I received the opportunity to play in a country where volleyball is one of their top supported athletics. I have always wanted to continue playing. I am really pumped for this season and hoping that it will increase the number of opportunities I receive in the future," says Rebecca.
