Journal Articles and Scholarly Works

Academic Search Elite This multidisciplinary database offers full-text for nearly 2050 scholarly journals. Journal articles relevant to English literature and book reviews can be found in this database.
Education Full-Text Indexes and abstracts journals and books from a variety of educational areas including English literature. Full-text is available from 1996-Present.
Humanities Full-Text Provides indexing and abstracting to 450 periodicals on disciplines including literature and language, history, philosophy, archaeology, classical studies, folklore, gender studies, performing arts, history, religion and theology. Full-text articles for over 95 journal titles are available online
JSTOR A full-text digitized archive of major research journals in a variety of academic disciplines, many dating back to the 1800's. Articles relevant to the study of English literature, including criticism, analysis, and reviews can be found in this database. Full-text coverage ranges from the 1800's to 2004.
MLA International Bibliography Consists of bibliographic records pertaining to literature, language, linguistics, and folklore. Nearly 4,000 scholarly journals are indexed as well as books, working papers, proceedings, and bibliographies. Full-text is not available. Coverage ranges from 1963-present.
Project Muse Contains sixty four scholarly journals in literature and seven literary magazines. All journals and magazines are available in full-text. Coverage in this field ranges from 1993-present.
PubList.com A directory of publications with over 150,000 listed.
Reader's Guide Full-Text Indexes and abstracts periodicals most often found in school, public, and college libraries, as well as the New York Times. Full-text coverage ranges from 1994-present.
Web of Science ISI Citation Databases are multidisciplinary databases of bibliographic information indexed so that you can search for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. Because the information stored about each article includes the article's bibliography, you can also search the databases for articles that cite a known author or work. Includes Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citations Index.

Digital Collections and Internet Resources

Early English Books Online (EEBO) Contains over 125,000 titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640), Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700), and the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661). Important canonized literary classics including the works of Malory, Bacon, More, Erasmus, Boyle, Newton, Galileo; musical exercises by Henry Purcell and novels by Aphra Behn. Also included in the database are prayer books, pamphlets, and proclamations; almanacs, calendars, and many other primary sources. All records are full-text and are linked to the corresponding page images, downloadable in Adobe® PDF. Coverage ranges from 1475-1700.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online

 

A full-text database based on The English Short Title Catalogue and 1,500 university, private and public libraries from around the world. ECCO contains nearly 150,000 English-language titles and editions published between 1701-1800.
Scottish Women Poets of the Romantic Period Contains 60 volumes of Romantic Poetry from 47 authors, extensive contemporary critical reviews, as well as material specially written for this database by leading scholars. Full-text coverage ranges from 1780-1900.
Wright American Fiction 1851-1875 A digital collection of over 2,000 19th century American fiction texts digitized by Indiana University, as listed in American Fiction . Full-text coverage spans from 1851-1875.
