Course Prerequisites
  • Recent AutoCAD Course or current experience
  • Successful completion of the Applications of Modern Shipbuilding Design course
  • OR, Equivalent AMSD competency portfolio.

 

Course Description

This course is designed to provide the practical skills and knowledge that students need to become effective entry level electrical designers in a shipyard or marine design agency.

In this course, Learners will complete six Learning Plans in which they demonstrate their competence by:

  • Reviewing electrical theory
  • Identifying the basics of the electrical system
  • Relating how rules and regulations impact electrical system design
  • Correlating the design process/production planning to a given shipyard
  • Creating 2D electrical system drawings
  • Preparing a 3D electrical model
