Course Prerequisites
- Recent AutoCAD Course or current experience
- Successful completion of the Applications of Modern Shipbuilding Design course
- OR, Equivalent AMSD competency portfolio.
Course Description
This course is designed to provide the practical skills and knowledge that students need to become effective entry level designers in a shipyard or marine design agency.
In this course, Learners will complete six Learning Plans in which they demonstrate their competence by:
- Exploring the purpose of design for production (DFP) in shipbuilding
- Recognize the factors that influence the design for production using DFP principles
- Applying individual principles of DFP for a given product model
- Applying DFP principles to ensure time and cost savings
