Basics of Structural Modeling
Course Prerequisites
- Recent AutoCAD Course or current experience
- Successful completion of the Introduction to Modern Shipbuilding Design course
- OR, Equivalent AMSD competency portfolio.
Course Description
This course is designed to provide the practical skills and knowledge that students need to become effective entry level structural modeling designers in a shipyard or marine design agency.
In this course, Learners will complete six Learning Plans in which they demonstrate their competence by:
- Analyzing a 2D scantling drawing
- Correlating scantling drawings to build strategy/module breakdown
- Creating 3D parts in a planar group
- Creating a 3D structural model
- Creating assembly and profile plot drawings
- Creating nest drawings
