Language Lab
Barahona Hallo, bonjour, y hola! I’m Katie Barahona, a sophomore here at UW-Marinette. I graduated from Marinette High School in 2006. In high school I had three years of French and one semester of Spanish. When I was recruited to UW-Oshkosh I decided to try German. I picked it up quickly and enjoyed the language. However, Spanish is an invaluable skill for my future. So, now back in Marinette, I’m in my second semester of college Spanish and have really progressed with the language. Although my Spanish background and abilities are far greater than my French or German, I’m more than happy to try to help. I encourage every language learner to stop by--I look forward to meeting you!
Krista My name Is Krista Greenwood. I graduated from Menominee High School, in Menominee Michigan. I have three years of high school Spanish experience, and I was a member of the Spanish club for a year (the year after they went to Mexico of course, because that is my luck). I'm planning on majoring in Graphic design, and possibly a minor in Spanish or photography. Some of my interests include photography, reading, writing, and working in the amazing Foreign Language Lab.
Molly Hello fellow scholars! I'm Molly Haserodt (pronounced Hasrote :)). I am from Niagara, WI, 20 yrs. old and I am here at UW-Marinette for my 3rd year. I intend on majoring in International Studies and minoring in Asian Studies and Japanese. Although Japanese is my passion, I don't know much (except for a few words here and there). I have had two years of French in high school (don't remember much) and am in my 3rd semester of Spanish here. My hobbies include anime/manga, reading (when I can), and playing video games.

colleen

I'm Colleen Johnston, a first year student at UW-Marinette and graduate of Marinette High School.  I studied French for four years and spent my senior year in the Francophone region of Belgium as a foreign exchange student through Rotary. While there I attended a Francophone high school and lived with Francophone host families.  After my studies here in Marinette, I hope to transfer to a school on the east coast to earn a BFA degree in acting, and minor in French.

Tess Patenaude ¡Hola todos! Me llamo Tess Patenaude and I am a freshman at UW-Marinette. I plan to double major in Social Work and Physical Education, though I have often thought about minoring in Spanish. I am very excited for my future! I graduated from Coleman where I took two and a half years of Spanish. I also traveled to Mexico with my Advanced Spanish class in the spring of 2007. I loved Mexico and cannot wait to go back! I love to travel and meet new people. I also love to just hang out and have a good time with all my friends. Stop by the language lab any time and check it out!

I look forward to meeting you all! Have a great school year!

Seth Winters Hey there, I’m Seth Winters and I graduated from Marinette High School in 2007. I’ve studied the Spanish language beginning in middle school and have been infatuated with it ever since. I plan to major in some form of business management down the line and minor in Chinese. Language has always been a passion of mine – I’ve independently studied Italian for about a year and then a little Latin, but Chinese has always been the focus of my study. So in addition to help with Spanish and possibly a bit of your other Latin-derived languages, I’d be happy to share my fascination of Chinese culture, literature and language with you.

Nick

Sophomore Nick Demott is a sociology major who graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. Nick's ultimate goal is to earn a doctorate at UW-Madison with teaching and research for a career. He chose UW-Marinette as his introduction to the UW System because of its location and curriculum. "I want to major in the social and environmental sciences and like the courses that are offered at UW-Marinette in those fields," says Nick. In addition to working as a writing lab tutor, Nick works at the EagleHerald as a customer service rep in the circulation department.

Amanda My name is Amanda Howarth, and I graduated from Crivitz High School in May of 2006.  This is my second year here at the University and I hope to graduate with my associated degree this May.  I will then transfer the UW- Green Bay where I am hoping to pursue a Masters in Social Work.  I would like to take this degree and become a guidance counselor in elementary schools. I am very outgoing and friendly and love to help people when I can.  I enjoy watching and playing spots and participating in campus activities. I am a very hard worker and I am very “stuck” to my set schedule.  I love to spend time with my friends and family!  I value my education and my progress in my life, so that is why I like to help people, so hopefully they can be satisfied as well.

Corey

Hello, I'm Corey Kaempf. This is the beginning of my sophmore year here at UW-Marinette. My plans for future education beyond this year started at UW-Milwaukee, changed to UW-Madison, changed back, and have since looped around again. It is, however, safe to say that I have chosen English as my main focus. Beyond that, I'm really not sure. Outside of the classroom, I stick to Chuck Palahniuk and bagels. This semester marks my second year of work in the Writing Lab.  Stop in and see me sometime.
