The Department of Biological Sciences
UW Colleges Department of Biological Sciences
The Biological Sciences are basic to a wide range of careers in the fields of medicine and natural resources. Basic courses in biology, anatomy, physiology, botany and ecology prepare you for advanced study in pre-medicine, veterinary medicine, chiropractic, pharmacy and dentistry as well as nursing and other allied health fields. A natural resources focus may lead to advanced degrees in forestry, paper science, soil science, water resources and wildlife management.
As a biology major, many career opportunities are available to you. Biology is not a single science, but rather a collection of sciences dealing with some aspect of living creatures. Therefore, a biology major offers a wide range of choices for a career.
Your choice of a career in biology will enable you to work toward solving problems such as preserving the environment, increasing the food supply, and/or improving health care.
