UW-Marinette's social science curriculum provides you with the basic skills and knowledge which will help you enroll successfully in a bachelor's degree program, succeed in a variety of social service or criminal justice professions, and compete successfully in the evolving global environment. This curriculum provides basic skills courses leading to a fundamental understanding of the general sociological factors which influence human behavior. It also teaches the value of the scientific study of society, and how to apply sociological principles to help people solve everyday problems.
Anthropology is the classification and analysis of human societies, descriptively, historically, and physically. It's unique contribution to studying the bonds of human social relations has been the distinctive concept of culture. Anthropological studies emphasize data from nonliterate peoples and archaeological exploration.
Sociology focuses on the study of human group behavior in modern societies. As the study of humans in group activites - economic, social, political, and religious - sociology tries to determine the laws which govern human behavior in groups.
