BACHELOR DEGREE
The UW-Milwaukee College Connections Program offers three bachelor degree programs beginning fall, 2002:
• The BAOA (Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Administration
• The BSIR (Bachelor of Science in Information Resources)
• The BCOMM (Bachelor of Arts in Communication)
The decision to offer the three programs was made following meetings with local business leaders who requested courses in business, economics, and communications as well as computer science and international studies. Students who major in Organizational Administration develop skills in the research and analysis of problems, creative thinking, and oral and written communication. The program provides students with the educational background necessary to succeed in a broad spectrum of professions and is an excellent foundation for the pursuit of advanced degree programs. Upon completion of both a major in Organizational Administration and the General Business minor (plus two additional courses), students satisfy application requirements without deficiencies for a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) program at UW-Milwaukee.
UW-Marinette offers the courses needed for the first two years of all three degrees and several courses in the majors such as “Introduction to Business,” “Managerial Accounting,” “Economics and Business Statistics,” and “Money and Banking,” as well as “Public Speaking” and “Business Communications.”
Courses are sequenced, so that students can earn their bachelor’s degree within two years of completing their two-year associate’s degree. At this time junior and senior level courses from UW-Milwaukee are provided online or by two-way video. Future plans include classroom courses delivered by UW-Milwaukee and UW-Marinette faculty. To ensure that students pursuing UW-Milwaukee degrees at UW-Marinette have the necessary resources and support available at the Milwaukee campus, UW-Milwaukee will provide access to its library, computer labs, and other academic support systems. Those services also include onsite advising for College Connection students.
