Dr. Keith West

Prior to accepting his current teaching position at UW-Marinette, Dr. West worked as an Industrial Recycling Specialist with UW-Extension’s Solid & Hazardous Waste Education Center (SHWEC). While with SHWEC, he provided technical assistance to hundreds of Wisconsin businesses and industry in every manner ranging from responses to telephone inquiries to on-site waste reduction and pollution prevention assessments. Dr. West also spent eight years in private industry with a manufacturer that was using paper mill sludge as feedstock. His duties included directing the company’s successful ISO 9002 registration effort and developing their Environmental Management System in compliance with ISO 14001.
Dr. West's teaching experience includes every level from sixth grade to college undergraduate. He has taught Geography, Environmental Science and History classes at UW campuses at Green Bay, Milwaukee and Sheboygan, as well as at Lakeland College.
While his recent research focus has been Industrial Ecology, Dr. West also enjoys reading political and social history. Other interests include bicycling, cross-country skiing and classic sports cars.
